Frequently Asked Questions
Will you come to my home, or do I have to go to your studio?
I built my studio in order to provide the best service possible. Parents don’t have to prepare anything, clean their homes, worry about lighting, shush their pets, or worry about room temps. But I understand that sometimes, you just want to capture images in your home. My ultimate job is to create the portraits you want – if in-home photography is what you’re after, that’s where I’ll be.
Do you only do baby photos? What about family portraits? Headshots?
I love photographing families and adults! Babies are my specialty, but I work with clients of all kinds. Please reach out!
Where are you located?
I am a Twin Cities family photographer, with a studio in Plymouth, Minnesota. I have built my studio as part of my home, in a quiet cul-de-sac with plenty of parking in my driveway just steps from the door. You’ll find easy access to shops and restaurants less than a mile away if you’d like to step out for lunch (or ice cream!) after your session.
Since I am in the western suburbs of Minneapolis, my photography clients primarily come from Plymouth, Minnetonka, Wayzata, Medina, Maple Grove, Golden Valley, Rogers, St. Louis Park, Edina, and Eden Prairie.
Will I get the digital files from my photography session?
Yes! Your package will come with a certain number of digital images, and you can always add more.
Do you do traditional posed portraits or candids?
It depends! In my studio, I lean toward posed, but in client homes, I favor candids. For newborns, I specialize in posed sessions – I have special posing and lighting equipment to help me achieve a stylized look.
Can you print the photos from my last photographer?
I am more than happy to include your existing family photos in albums or wall art designs. The only caveat is that we must have a print release if the photos are professional portraits.
What kind of camera equipment do you use? Is there a flash?
I am delighted to use a Sony alpha a7iii. It is a mirrorless camera, which makes it smaller and less visually intimidating to children, as well as quieter, since there is no mirror “kachunking” up and down with every shot (no scary noises to wake up sleeping newborns!). My a7Riii is also full-frame, which means the sensor is much larger than those consumer cameras and can take in way more information. That lets me take amazing photos even in very low lighting! However, I do use a Jinbei professional studio light, with an octobox modifier that creates a soft, consistent light – that means no flashes in your little one’s eyes.
What is your shipping policy?
My local photography clients are invited to the studio for a Product Reveal, where you can see your beautiful products for the first time and make sure you love each one before taking them home. For other clients, I usually ship via USPS Priority Mail, which takes 2-3 days to arrive.
